Why is it that Iphoto makes my photos smaller? Is there a way to change that? The only way I can get the original size is to export them from Iphoto.

Also, why is it that when I make a change to a photo it saves over the original as soon as I exit the photo? Most of the time I want to save the changes as a copy, not over the original.

Thanks

What do you mean "make them smaller?" iPhoto does not do anything to the size of your photo unless you crop it. Do you mean in disk size?

iPhoto doesn't have a save command. Whenever you make a change, the changes are automatically shown in the displayed photo as soon as you move to a new photo or exit editing mode. iPhoto automatically saves your original, untouched file though. You can revert to it anytime by selecting "revert to original" under the Photos menu.

That said, nobody I know uses iPhoto to edit their photos. It should be used as a photo storage/lighttable only. Do all your editing in PS or other editor of your choice and save your edited files to a separate folder. iPhoto excels as a camera import/organizer/storage program. It is NOT made for serious editing.
