Very sadly took my last shots with my Sony DSC F717 on Friday. I so loved this camera......didn't have to think about it, was a just an extension of me. So many memories captured.....can't bring myself to throw her out yet.

Had to get a replacement cos I use the lighter camera to throw in bag, head out to the resthomes, at work for the animals. Eventually, after many hours fiddling round, chose a Canon S3 IS.....feels very strange, so different from the Sony. I will get used to it.......

Now I'm late for work!!!!! Gotta go

Aweee sorry to hear, Sue.

My 717 died a few months ago. I hate to send it in for repair, wouldn't be worth the expense, but still can't bear to throw it out either. Not sure what I will do with it, but I miss using it.

Checked it out too Cindi.....cost of repairs would almost cover replacement camera.

My F717 just died too. :(

I loved that camera. I may try to pick one up on EBAY.

Sad thread, too bad Sue.

My camera had all kind of weird lines and turned red. Check out this thread. This is awesome. My G/F found the link, I never would have fond it.

In a nutshell......

We have determined that this only occurs in a limited number of devices, but may be accelerated if they are exposed to hot and humid environments.

From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue.

Thanks for the link, Cam. I read through and unfortunately mine suffers from another problem..... used to death! I shot it most every day for almost 3 years. Zillions of shots (it seems). It just got old and the sensor gave up :( My last few shots look much like Sue's.

Mine has a zillion shots also. Mine just happened to have that same exact problem.

I am not sure how picky they are about fixing them. If mine was broken for any reason I would be tempted to send it in, and see what happens.

If its broken anyhow, why not. :)

Problem is that I'm way outside the USA and would have to ship the camera to the states for the offer to be valid.
