Does anyone feel the same as me? I feel like the two challenge themes for this week exclude all point and shoot cameras. My camera won't take an exposure over 2 seconds and the point and shoot apertures are keeping me from shooting bokeh effectively....Is there a tutorial for P&S cameras to shoot Bokeh? I have an adaptor and Magnifying lenses but I can't seem to get an out of focus background. Thank you in advance...

shoot in low light conditions, with the subject much closer than the background. That should do it.

You're not excluded, just challenged. Having a DSLR is no guarantee that you can do either a decent 30 sec exposure or a decent bokeh shot so please don't say it is because you have a P&S.

These were all done with a p&s so I do believe it can be done.

Does your camera not have a macro mode?

And this one, too. She's got a few good examples.

Thanks people. I've tried a few in macro mode with out much luck. I've always admired woodsey's work as know the limitations of this camera. enash too. The consensus seems to be that it may be harder, but it's possible. I'll do my best. Thanks again.

Bokeh's doable, it's just 30seconds we're excluded from. We just hafta work a wee bit harder to make it good :)

And it looks like this pic has some bokeh effect.

If ya can do this you'll have no problem, Good luck.

I tried with my PS A70. You should do fine!

I think it was macro mode on AV max aperture. Tried 20-30 shots I think. I know it wasn't great but I gave it a try.

Neophyte, I've got a p&s as well that's fully automatic with preset modes. Get yourself a magnifying glass (I think I paid $2 for mine), set your camera to macro mode. Hold the magnifying glass in front of the lense and aim at something close. Press the shutter button half way (do it several times if you have to until you get the focus) and aim at your subject. Move closer or farther away until you have it in good focus and press the shutter the rest of the way.

I took this using a magnifying glass in front of the lense. It's not the best one I've taken, but it's the only example I have right now. :)
