I was wondering that too.

I have shot many shots on bulb and the EXIF records the seconds used. That's true on the Canon 300D at least. I'm assuming it's true for others as well.

Count me in as someone who wants to be in both challenges...

Exif generally records the time very precisely... Even down to one ten thousandth of a second or less...

This is even the case for nominal shutter times...

For example, in the 2 second challenge, many took shots at 2 seconds but their exifs revealed 1.99997 or something similar...

Shooting bulb mode would be no different. The camera would still record an exact time.

I have never shot in bulb mode so I'm guessing I need a Remote Switch? Is this what you use or is there something better? I'm still new to all of this.

A remote will help, but you can shoot bulb manually; just keep pressing the shutter button.

The high end P&S cameras such as the powershot G# series and powershot pro series all have 30 sec. exposure times so its not just for DSLR people. I'd be more then happy to use my G2 for this shoot.

The specs I see for the powershot pro1, g2 and g6 say 15 sec. but then again, what do I know? :)

Today I've taken a number of 30-second shots that fall into none of the above categories. Haven't loaded them onto my computer yet to review them yet, but I'm hopeful of getting at least one suitable entry out of them - but even if not, it was fun exploring some different long exposure options to my normal long exposure subject matter.

The Nikon D300, (25mp, available by Christmas) will have bluetooth thingies and enter DNMC directly in the EXIF

I think this challenge is a sneaky way to eliminate competition from Iceland, it´s so bright this time of year that you usually get overexposed images at 30 seconds unless you are shooting WAY past midnight :)

Nevermind, that just means I get to kick butt in bokeh instead, hehe :)

I was thinking the same thing goes for Norway, but Terje proved me wrong (and how). Couple of polarised filters?
