Before I go through sending my camera back maybe someone here can help me...

For manual mode, you turn the on but to the bent line.
You put the camera on M.
You use the top dial for shutter speed.
You use the back dial for aperture.

Or at least that is what it says in my manual. Except, I can't change my aperture. I have tried everything including changing lenses and the dial does not operate the aperture. It will operate the focus points and other buttons like WB if I push that button first but it will not change the aperture. What am I missing?

I can't speak for the 30D but thats how it works on the 5D. If you have the switch turned to 'On' though the dial on the back doesn't work. Are you sure the power switch is turned to the right setting, have you tried it with the switch set to both the 'on' and to the 'bent line'?

What I read in the manual:
M for manual
Top dial to set shutter speed watching lcd/viewfinder
Flip power? switch to / (If that is the power switch)
Turn the dial next to the power switch to set aperature watching exposure levels in viewfinder.

I tried it switched to both. I tried it with different lenses. I tried turning it on and off and on and off. I reset the custom functions. I tried it in other modes even (okay so I'm not so bright). I did everything but throw it across the room, though I was sorely tempted. I sent an email to canon stating that I was having the problem with the camera set on the bent line. Their response: "Try it with the camera on the bent line." Gotta love people who read their email completely.

At any rate, it is only two weeks old so I may luck out with Circuit city return if there actually is a problem other than OE.

Thanks you all. :)

Definately take it back to CC and have them show you nothing is wrong with the camera before you do something like send it in for repairs. If it is only 2 weeks old they should and prob will give you an exchange or refund.

You can always mail to me and let me check it out for a couple months or so if you need a second opinion....

Well, Canon says to send it to them. Circuit City says to send it to them. Or go to the local store, give it back, and wait for them to send me a new one. Either way, I'm out a camera for at minimum a week.

Brad, your offer of a couple of months sounds good when compared to Canon but I think I'll pass... ;)

Believe it or not, I just got a call from Circuit City following up on my purchase and asking if I wanted to purchase their warranty. Odd world...
