I am wondering of any of your experiences with dell, online circuit city, norman camera or tristate camera/video equipment. The reason I ask is I'm looking for a specific olympus lens (14-54mm) and looking at pricegrabber these companies have them. Unfortunately adorama and b&h are backordered or out of stock.
If anyone has any other favorite stores I'm up to hear bout them as well. I have no idea how long it could be backordered...so I'm not sure how long to wait for b&h.
Thanks

well sab,
It looks as though no one is going to pitch in. Are you planning on getting the E-500 body and buying the lenses separately? or are you planning on getting the two kit lenses? I have both lenses (the 14-45mm and the 40-150mm that come with the kit) and am reasonably happy with them. I'm wanting to upgrade my lenses to the ones that come with the E-1 for the added "pro advantage". Obviously these aren't the highest grade lenses they offer but they are the highest grade I can afford.
good luck with the E-500--it seems to be a nice camera. I have a friend that just bought one and he's happy with it (although he's not really a serious photographer, but his pictures look nice and crisp with the camera).
Check out onecall.com. I just checked them out, my dad bought his camera from them and was happy with them. I think I'm planning on getting my lens from them. FYI, b&h has other lenses in stock for the e-series cameras.

Actually I don't know which one I'm getting.
They finally started carring them here at my Navy store and when I finally decided to go buy it the only one they had was the one with the 17.5-45(?) lens. I wasn't too happy but said ok. Then they said they only had the display model left...crap...well I said the rebate ends at the end of the month so ok lets get it. So the guy goes to get the security thingy off and comes back and says he can't honestly sell it to me cause someone dropped the lens and broke the attachment part...double crap...guess I wasn't supposed to get it. lol
I asked when they'd get another...they had no clue. So I called their supply person a couple days later and she said he would see if she can get one shipped from another store and have it FedEx'd to us, she would call me back. (she didn't call back) I went in and questioned it and she said she forgot to call me but she has one on it's way from San Diego, and it should be here by the end of next week. But I forgot to ask which one she got me.
I'm really hoping it is the 2 lens kit cause I really can't afford this as it is and really don't want to have to go somewhere else to get another lens (we have credit cards that are specfic only to the military store and can't be used else where). I'm hoping with the rebate I can get me a nice high speed card and extra battery (can never have too many of them).
I am really hoping I can get this in time to take advantage of the rebate and get familiar with it before I move to Okinawa in August...of course maybe I can get a better deal over there. |

I had a good experience buying a camera from TriState. I selected them because they had the lowest price and because I could deal with them over the phone, and didn't have to use the internet. I was offered accessories at very high prices, but not really pressured to buy them. I got exactly what I wanted at the price advertised on their website. I would be happy to buy from them again if they had the best price for an item I was shopping for.

Hello,
Currently I have the E1, the 300, the 14-54, the 50-200, the 35mm macro, and the Fl50 as well as the EX25. I bought nearly all of the stuff from Cametta camera on Ebay or from B&H. These are my preferred places to buy. Currently its tough to get the lens you are looking for due to backorder. What you see listed may actually go up for sale very soon due to a perspective employer asking me to use Canon for a photography job. I'll post a for sale here when I do.

Matt,
I'd be interested in your gear when it comes time--assuming everything is in good condition (which I'm assuming it is).
Is there anyway to know when the 14-54mm lens is coming off backorder? I've totally excited about buying this lens, and now can't seem to get it.

I have been told all Olympus is saying is that they are currently stepping up production on a few things lens and flash are them Interestingly enough the prices on these items is going up as the supply is going down. My stuff very well may be up for sale in the next week or so. I will let you know. What would you be interested in. I have a list and some prices I'd like to get. And yes all of my equipment is well cared for and its all still under warrenty. The 2 cameras have 2 year Olympus warrenties.

I guess price would probably influence the number of things I'd be interested in. First things though would be the 14-54mm lens and/or the 50-200mm lens. Just let me know and I'll let you know whether I can or not.
Thanks
