Yeah, and probably eliminating all point and shoot owners. I know mine only goes to 15 seconds, and is one of the high-end ones. |

Yep, mine only goes to 16. Oh well. I applaud having the specifics as a dq-able offense though. I think that it drives home the 'spirit' of the challenge. Good luck to all!

Then it is not too late to change the description to say 15 seconds or more... I can't see much difference that would benefit shots between 15 and 30 seconds exposure... |

Good thing there is another challenge for the people who can't shoot 30 sec. I'm happy for the very specific rules and grounds for DQ...Way to go SC.

Praises for the "DQ'able" part, but 30-seconds? This is sick, my camera cant go as long as 30-seconds, and probably many other people cant too...
I wonder if a DQ'able 1/2000sec challenge would have people complaining too?
good luck to all who can enter, sobs...

My camera goes directly from 8 seconds to 10 minutes. Guess who isn't going to bother? :P

Most cams in use here can do to 15 sec, right? Why not use that? I know most challenges cut out certain people for various reasons, but this seems like a HUGE chunk to disbar.
I dont' mind too much for myself, as I like the looks of bokeh, but I hesitate at regular, open challengs that are rather elitist, on principle. |

Isn't that the reason we have two challenges.

My P&S goes to 30 seconds, so I'm just able to enter. |

But it means that some members only have a "choice" of one challenge. |

I think if it bothers ppl so much to not be able to have 2 choices, they can always pay and become full members to have access to the other challenge.
But anyways, 1 free challenge is better than none at all. |

I second that, or I'll 30second that. Some glasses are half empty at all times, you know how it goes.
Glad the rules are so clear this time, I for one made a mistake last time. I have learned a bit more about the camera-settings now.

Nice to see the extra rules but that's not going to stop someone from photographing one of those waterfall shots and just covering the lens for 29 1/2 seconds.

we are all members if you haven't noticed ;) and GeneralE is a site council. I guess everybody likes to have choices. Please dont get offended :)
a pessimist would see the glass half empty,
an optimist would see the glass half full,
an economist would see a downsizing opportunity! |

I want to see a nice and sharp shot of a flying bird with exif showing 30seconds.
Better have a fast hand :) |

I think some people have gotten incredibly good at meeting the challenge but not really. However that would take some mad skills to pull off.
