I have the following gear up for grabs:

1. Canon Rebel XT with 18-55 kit lens - Very well taken care of. Not sure how many shots it has on it. Very clean, looks like new. Probably needs a good sensor cleaning simply because I haven't done it in a long time. It's the only camera I own and the same one I used in all my recent challenge entries. Looking to trade + cash for a 20D. If you just upgraded to a 30D and are using a 20D as a backup, this would be a good chance to pick up some extra cash and still have a backup body.

2. Canon 70-200 F/4 - I shouldn't have to say what a great lens this is. Not a scratch on it. You wouldn't be able to tell it from a new one. Willing to trade + cash for a 70-200 f/2.8.

3. Sigma EF500DG ST flash for canon EOS. Again, this item is like new, no scratches. It hasn't been used very often and performs just like it's new. Looking to trade + cash for a 580EX.

I don't know if anyone is gonna want to down grade their gear, but I'd pay you 350 plus shipping for the Canon 70-200 f/4.

Sorry, but I think 350 is a little low for the 70-200. I will accept offers on the equipment, though. I would like to sell the whole package together if someone is interested, or I would also sell separate. I also have a 512 card I can throw in with the rebel xt.

I would think you would do better offering this for sale rather than trying to trade up. Somebody in another thread was looking for a 300D Rebel and might be interested in this, but they didn't have a 20D to trade.

Seeing as a new 70-200 f/4 runs at about $500, how much would you be willing to sell yours for?
06/13/2006 12:15:42 PM · #7
I decided to go ahead and make some prices to let people know how much I'm looking to get:

For the Rebel XT with 18-55mm lens and 512MB card, and a leather pouch made for it, I'll take $625 plus shipping.

For the 70-200 f/4 L, I'll take $475 plus shipping.

For the flash, I'll take $175 plus shipping.

For the whole package (rebel xt, 18-55mm lens, 512 card, 70-200, and flash), I'll take $1200.

I think these prices are reasonable. I based them by going to ebay, doing a completed items search for items that have sold in the past 30 days, and pricing each item at or below the cheapest one that has sold on ebay in the past 30 days. I do a good bit of business on ebay under the id: kcz-deals. If no one here is interested, I'll go ahead and put them on ebay. I wanted to give the DPC community first shot and a better price.

Isn't it about $500 at B&H? I may be mistaken but that was the impression I was under.

edit:

my mistake
$544.95 with the $40 rebate at B&H

A new one at B&H that is the US version like this one is, sells for $584.95. There is a $40 mail in rebate from Canon (and if you know much about canon rebates you know how it's going to take forever to get the rebate), but that only knocks it down to $544.95. At a price of $475, that's $70 cheaper than a new one, and this one is just like new.

If I had the money I'd buy it all from you for Amanda... since she needs a kit.

But I don't, so I'm just gonna slink away and go stand in the corner.

B&H has a 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 II lens for $200. Glenn's has it for $300, but it's a decent lens for outdoor stuff. I've taken it for a test drive.

Which flash is it?
B&H shows an EF500DG ST for $149 for canon and the EF500DG Super for $229
06/13/2006 03:10:38 PM · #15
It's the super version that B&H sells for $229

He's selling a 70-200mm f/4. Not the same.

I just remembered I have a wireless remote that goes with the rebel xt.
06/13/2006 06:16:11 PM · #18
Ok, you can stop teasing me now....
A 70-200 F4, & now a wireless remote.
*sigh*

Haha, sorry.. Just to tease some more...

I have a circular polarizer for the 18-55mm lens that I will throw in for an extra $10.

The 70-200 has been sold, payment pending.
06/13/2006 11:31:33 PM · #21
Payment received. Anyone for the rebel xt or the flash? If interested let me know. If there's no more interest, it's off to ebay.

Is the flash this one?

or this one?

I think these are the same ones.

Just trying to see exactly what you are selling.

Ok, now I'm embarassed. The whole time I've owned this flash I thought it was the super version. Now that I go back and compare it to the photos of the non-super version, it's definately not the super version. Which also makes my price too high. It is the one shown in the two links posted by slickchik.

what does full TTL operation and E-TTL II mean?

I am very new to all this stuff and i have never owned a flash
06/14/2006 12:20:28 AM · #25
To be honest I don't really know. I think it has something to do with the way it powers the flash, and how strong the flash is. I know there are several strength levels on the back of the flash unit, and as I zoom in and out with my lens, it automatically adjusts the strength of the flash. It assumes that if you are shooting at 18mm, for example, that you don't need a very strong flash. Or if you are shooting at 300mm, you need the strongest setting. There are also manual override controls to set the flash.
