Okay, I think I am ready to order my first book from MYPUBLISHER. I am starting the design tonight. I plan to use just a blank page template and edit the pages myself in photoshop taking advantage of the full bleed they offer. My question is...
when designing this book, can I (should I) span pictures across pages. i.e. the left part of the picture on page 1, and the right part of the picture on page 2? You see this all the time in magazines and even art books, but I'm not sure how "aligned" it would come out with MYPUBLISHER has anyone done this? did it work well?
Also, if I am getting the 9x12" book, should I make my photoshop documents 9x12, or larger? (like an extra 1/4")

I've ordered several books from myPublisher with spanned pages.
You will need to split the photo into 2 parts (I think you know that). I allowed 1/4 inch of overlap. In other words, the files shared the same 1/4 inch of image area where they meet. This worked out well about 95% of the time. The rest were only noticable by me.
You don't need to allow for the bleed off the page. The myPublisher full page templates will bleed off on all sides. You do need to be careful if you have critical parts of your image very close to the edge. I've seen some where feet or tops of heads get cut off if they are too close.
The books are huge hits with everyone that sees them. If you get an opportunity order the really big book. I did for my sister's wedding, it was awesome.
Good luck. |
