Did it really meet the challenge? The "thing" - Rikki (which is also a verb ;->) - is not quite in the room, but on the window sill, so half in, half out. maybe that was a reason for the lower votes.
(BTW, it looks pretty terrible on this school monitor).

Forgive me if somebody has already said this, but the mix of color & desat seemed rather odd to me. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, other than just because. But then again I've never been confused with the sharpest tool in the shed. I could buy into it meeting the challenge if it weren't for the color outside the windows sucking me out of the room at hyperspeed.

I'm not exactly the one to tell you much, as I seldom get any votes over 5. I think it's a nice little picture, not a winner, slightly DNMC (which may not be a bad thing).
The colours are probably a good thing, but also probably difficult. I certainly felt that the blues and greens of the hills were way over-saturated, to the point where landscape realism is lost. Maybe this has something to do with editing on an LCD screen.
