This was a "pretty good" "bad picture" taken inside with available light. I didn't think it was worth anything the way it was so I "painted it". I then removed some of the paint from the skin and feel the shot is worth keeping.
Keep in mind that I did only about 5 minutes of "painting" on this. I'm sure I could tweak it but want your opinions first!

Close, but her left hand turned into a flipper.

I would go through and try some other painting methods...
I think it is a good start, but not sure I like the particular brush stroke and paint combination tool that you used
edit: looks like you used watercolor? try one of the puddy or thick paint tools, or a more drastic watercolor
