I am now poor. I just ordered the Canon 70-200mm f2.8L! (and the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, but that one isn't as responsible for the dent in my wallet.)
Anyway, I just had to share this with someone. My gf just doesn't understand!

| Just explain that instead of spending your free time with a camera, the alternative would be golf. Then lay out how much golf costs (rounds, carts, club memberships, balls, club membership, drinks, etc.). Photography starts to look cheap. You'll never hear another word. |

Truer words have not been spoken! I gave up golf for photography. My wife is happy, as now I am also not gone for a whole day every other weekend - the family can tag alone on my photo gigs!
BTW sailracer, you will LOVE that particular L glass! I've never regretted the purchase! |

I think it worked- she forbid me from taking up golf when I suggested that was the alternative. But she didn't say anything about more lenses!

Don't forget to feign interest in golf the next time you need new glass. ;)
Any one have a rough figure about the cost of 1 outing? I may need to use this with my wife. lol |

Just don't tell her you need the new glass to take picture of golfers golfing!
I gave up golf before i took up drinking (now i know what all those pockets on teh galf bags are for!) I can't see spending $30-50 per outing and several hours for what? I can get teh tan via yardwork, the booze at teh bar, and it's not excersize.
