An automotive technician and instructor I've know for many years, lost his 10-year old daughter, and nearly lost his wife yesterday in a bizarre crash. His daughter Jenny was his life. In Jim's training clases, he even used pictures of his daughter in some of the slides, in silly poses, as an ice-breaker and such, to keep a light atmosphere in the class.

This is so sad.
Bizarre crash ends in death of girl

Just proves life truly is precious.
Make each day count.

Unreal.

I can't imagine losing my kids. Keep us up to date on this. Let us know the wife's condition.

Also...keep us up to date on who the guy was who purposly killed the girl.

I'm very sorry to hear such horrific things happen, and it's scary when someone close to us is hurt or killed by such a tragic and preventable (the driver of the other vheicle's fault) event.

after reading the article, I can't fathom that the event can be considered an accident, and I hope that the driver of the other vheicle is brought to justice.

Brad, what a truly devestating story. I have no words. You just never know when your time is up. I am so very very sorry.

Guess that is my singlemost fear in life.
If I could be granted one wish, maybe I would want to know moments before any of my kids died.
That way I could be sure to go first. Outliving a child is unimagineable.

Exceptionally sad.

Bizarre is a misnomer imo, the man wanted to kill and ultimately committed murder.

Such a waste, and so very sad. :(

Live well my DPC friends, seize the second.

Aweeeee, Brad, that is so sad. I sure hope you can be there for your friend, he will definitely need friends to lean on. My best friend lost her 13 year old daughter last fall. Its been very hard, but I try hard to help her any way I can.

our auntie and uncle have outlived there son. He passed when he was 20 after many years of being ill. The last 4 yrs for them have been a myriad of rollercoaster rides. Even to the point of their marriage not lasting. They are working on it, but it has put such a stress on their lives I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I have seen what they are going through and I must tell you that you will need to be there for that family at any time of day and for any reason. I dont know how close you are or arent but now is the time to be there.

Oh that is just so terrible, Brad, my heart goes out to your friend and his wife, I hope she will be OK. My husband and I have five children, I couldn't imagine any of them dying, it would be just so devastating. My mother lost two children, two of my younger brothers, and she was just never the same afterwards.

It's just heartbreaking to read that.

I can't even think of anything to say. this is terrible... definitely will keep them in my prayers.

This is just horrific Brad. My heart and prayers go out to nyour friend and his family and friends. There can be no justice harsh enough for this man who has taken the precious life of a child. This just brings tears to me eyes.

Should have added that this was not a deliberate act it seems.
The old man was in his 60's or 70's but he had diabetes and his blood sugar level dropped which is why he probably did what he did.
(as reported on a family member's blog)

Thank you for adding that Brad - we really should not judge this person without knowing all the facts. I was just over taken with the horror of what this family is going through now. If someone took my daughter from me, they may as well be taking my life too as she is everything to me.

perhaps that's why there is no word for it - orphan, widow, widower..., but losing a child should not happen. there are no words for the depth of such a loss.

This is horrible and just breaks my heart. I know the driver couldn't help it, I'm sure he is just dying inside (if he made it thru this too). My prayers go out to this family for some strength and comfort.

My lord, that's a truly appalling story. It reads like some sick movie script, not real life. I find it quite staggering. My prayers for your friend and his wife :-(

Robt.
