So I got my Sigma 24-70mm EX DG Macro AND battery grip last night, so you can just imagine in what kind of a play mood I'm, in today.
BTW, for those considering a battery grip with big hands - GET IT!
Seriously.
Anyhow, So I screwed the lens on last night, took a few shots and this morning as well.
When I got to work I wanted to show someone, and I got a 00 message in the display where the aperture is, and the camea didnt work at all.
After switching it on and off a good couple of times, I eventually took the lens off and wiped the metal ring on the body clean and put the lens back on, and now it seems to be grafting again.
Any ideas?
I recall reading about the 00 message in my manual somewhere... |

AFAIR sigma has constant electronic problems with canon bodies, they were incompatible at first then they had to rechip the whole line of lenses to work with newer canon bodies ... i dont know, sell the lens ... get tamron or canon lense and everzthing will be fine :>
uh oh. i'm not an expert ... don't forget this LOL |

I'd guess that this was down to dirty contacts between the lens and the body. If the camera cannot get information from the lens as to the aperture value, it displays '00'. As an example, try taking the lens off and turning on the camera.
It might also be that the lens wasn't fully clicked home, that's also something worth checking.
BTW, isn't the Sigma 24-70 macro a fairly recent lens? If so, there should be no compatibility problems.

Yeah, I also thought that could be it, thanks!
Yeah, it is fairly new, the 2.8 EX DG.
It's working wonders now, it seems fully compatable to me. |
