I have a corporate shoot coming up Monday. The space is too small for me to use my normal portrait lens so I was going to use a wide angle. There are going to be seven people.

Question 1: Will a wide cause too much foreshortening and distortion to produce an attractive portrait?

Question 2: Is the distortion correctable in PSCS2 using the perspective tool - I know this feature works on some architecture but cropping occurs?

Question 3: Would be feasible to shoot each individual on a green screen and remove them from the background using Digital Anarchy or something like it and would it be worth while to do something like that instead?

Thanks in advance.

You could make a feature of the wide angle nature of the shot: get the clients in close, main man in the middle leaning forwards, others arranged slightly around, and centre the shot on the man in the middle: he should not be too wideangled/distorted, but the image will have a nice round-ish feel to it.

Green screening sounds like a nightmare to me to get a natural looking shot.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely give that a try. I was a little hesitant about the green screen. PP nightmare as well.

Tim, What are you shooting for (Web, print or fun) and who are the people (Important peeps like CEOs etc or is it a Team shoot)? Seven peeps is a controllable bunch and you should be able to have fun with them.

Your 17-80mm should be fine close in and shouldn't add any distortion, DOF will probably be longer just watch for distractions and un-interesting sub-subjects.

Got an office with a Desk put the team leader sitting (with one of those Donald Trump looks) and the team standing behind. Fill the frame with desk and people.

Grab some candids of them while you are at it.

I was just wondering why not use whatever lens u think will be better, and if the people don't fit, just take as many photos as required and stitch them together. I've seen this being done before with larger groups of people. It will be distortion free, and will give you a higher resolution picture.

Sorry didn't see this post reply until. They are doctors on a board. The desk is a great idea but it won't fit into the space. There is also going to be one uncontrolled light source. They are already bothered by the fact they had a photographer come out last year and they ended up with reflections on their foreheads that were irremovable apparently. I was thinking of using a friend's 24-120mm but may switch to the 18-70mm. They are going to arrive at different times and want the group shot at the end. I only have an hour to shoot before their meeting at 10:00 am. Looks like it may be a little tricky. Thanks for the advice.

In regards to the post below the stitching requires too much post process work for me but I may resort to it as each individual wants a separate portrait as well a group shot.
