I was wondering what the most common monitor size, type, and resolution currently is.
I'm running a 24" CRT at 1920x1200 and a 21" CRT at 1600x1200 and there is a definite difference in the look of my posted pictures when I view them online with my wife's computer and it's 17" CRT at 1024x768. That being the case I thought a third screen on my computer with a more typical size and resolution might be helpful in preparing pictures for the web and have started looking into it.
Any responses to this informal survey would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

| Bloody hell. I think I've got monitor envy. I'm using a 19" LCD, it was selected mostly for gaming speed rather than photo processing though. |

One ViewSonic 17" LCD (VP730b) and one NEC 17" CRT (MultiSync XV17, old school) both run at 1280x1024.
The key is to calibrate the monitors, and work in sRGB for web. You will never please every monitor. My LCDs at work are 25% as bright as my ViewSonic, and are terribly red (I've dropped my red level to 0, and it still has a warm glow). The photos I work on at home look completely diferent at work. I'm comfortable knowing that they were processed in a color-controlled space, YMMV. Viewing lighting may effect the look as well.

**drools all over setup**
GEEZE, talk about envy! I'm using a 14.5" LCD laptop screen, with dreams of a 18" someday. That setup, that's beyond my wildest fantasies!

A month old CTX 19" flatscreen CRT.
studio computer is my old (and a bit too dark) 19" CRT.
Both run 1024x768. I want and like the extra info i get at 1280x1024 but then i have to sit close to the monitor to read it.
I hate getting old, but I hear it's better than the alternative.
