A friend sent me a picture she took with her Samsung Digimax V50, and it has these strange colored lines all through it. This is a 100% size crop of it:

Does anyone know what might have caused this?

Was that the only shot that came out like that? If so, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.

All the shots she took yesterday turned out like this, and she needs the photos for a project.

Something similar happened to my Powershot A80. Don't think the lines were quite as uniform, though.

I had gone from air conditioned inside to hot and drizzling outside. By a stroke of genius (sarcasm) I decided to stick the camera inside a ziplock baggie with only a small hole for the lense.

I was told that condensation on the sensor could cause this; and/or sensor overheating from being sealed up. Cameras are computers and if the sensor burns up, that's bad.

Has your friend tried to use it again? Perhaps it was temporary?

Is that a long exposure?

It looks like the sensor is having a problem with capturing long exposures if it was.
