To the owners of these lens, the 28-105 f 3.5-4.5 D. Have you been pleased with it's performance? I have an opportunity to buy a used one at a good price, so needed to check first before doing so.

I looked at the samples of photos taken with it on this site, but wanted some feedback. How is it for portraits?

I Love my Lens. It is great for just about eveerything. It rarely comes off the camera these days.

I had one for years and recently sold it. Though it was great as an all-purpose lens and has a decent zoom range, I found the bokeh to be very wiry. After a while it really bothered me. But, it does make a good all-purpose lens, and the bokeh in macro shots is decent and not too wiry, provided the aperture is wide open:
