My question is:
Does a vase witha flower init count as one or two "things", does a person with a shirt and pants on count as 1 thing or 3?
I took the "one thing" very literally. I am not counting off for have 2 or 3 things, but I am giving extra points for turly being "one thing"
I just finished voting, there are a LOT that have more than one thing. There are some really cool images too. Not very many entries on this one.

I also took the "one thing" very literally. And is a person a "thing"? I don't know and I don't know how to score those photos.

I don't know whether a person is a "thing", but the description said to take your camera and one item into an empty room. By definition, at least one person will now be in the room.
Am I reading too much into this?

I don't have an entry, but I would say that a person IS a thing. I also wonder about images that don't show any "room". |

I would say a person is a "thing" in the literal sense. A person wearing a hat is 2 things, IMO. A vase with 4 flowers in it is 5 things. A room with a trash can and a lot of clutter around it is several things.
Of course, we have seen many times a good photo scoring high when it doesn't even come close to meeting the challenge. Environmental Portraits had a really nice football action shot that scored a 6.1. It was a good picture, but it wasn't even close to being an environmental portrait by any stretch of the imagination.

There are also images that show an empty room but no "thing" in the room.

well if we're being LITERAL... the photograph should be of your camera since it said "take your camera into an empty room and photograph it"

Nope. It says, "take your camera AND ONE OTHER THING into an empty room and photograph it." |

you're both wrong:
Challenge: Empty Room (May. 29th 2006 - Jun. 4th 2006) [Challenge Details: Your challenge this week. Take one thing and your camera into an empty room and photograph it.]
Rules: Advanced Editing

Voting Deadline: Jun. 11th 2006
Details: Your challenge this week. Take one thing and your camera into an empty room and photograph it.

so, take one thing and your camera, could be that the one thing is your camera in some mathematical senses or could be your camera plus one thing in the english writing sense... |
