To anyone who is interested, we have recently seen lower prices on some of the new D-SLRs here in Canada. And with the lower Canadian currency exchange rate it may be helpful for you to know. I trust that this information is helpful.

Nikon D100 Body Only
Henrys - $2749.99
Vistek - $2749
Camera Canada - $2698.80
The Camera Store - $2699

Canon EOS-10D
Henrys - $2499
Vistek - $2499
Camera Canada - $2499
The Camera Store - $2425

Check for additional deals with each reseller. Provincial Sales Taxes vary from Province to Province. All prices are in Canadian dollars and as seen on the applicable retailers web sites (March 30, 2003). Some retailers seem to be bundling Compact Flash deals along with the camera sale which enhances their offering considerably. Good luck.

Michael, thanks for the great Canadian sites. I'll be getting my 10D at a local independant shop. They are asking $2549, however I will be getting it for $2499. I didn't have to negotiate much and it's good to support local.

I really like the Henry's site. Great search tool, plus I've heard some good things about them.

It's just too bad that Canadian lenses and cameras cost so much more than on the States side. I mean this by converting USD$ to CAD$. For example, a 10D selling for $2500 Canadian would cost $1,689 in Amercian dollars (the exchange rate today is $1.48 to buy USD dollar). However, our dollar has gained value against the Green Back (or vice versa) as of late.

A major retail camera chain in Dallas lowered the D100 body from list of $1999 (US) to $1699 (US) this weekend. I suppose in response to the Canon 10D.

Yeah I just picked up, well ordered actually, a D100 from Ritz. B&H was out of em. So I should have it tomorrow or Wed. I'm glad I waited now. I would have been so mad to buy it a couple weeks ago then have them drop the price. The 10d does look pretty nice, except for the problems I hear about, though small. Plus I'm really going to be excited to see what Nikon puts out in the next year or two.
