It had been around 6.7 early then dropped down to 6.05 and has started a nice little climb back in the happy direction over the weekend.

Agreed, but I still rarely give a 3. Mine is obviously artificial light, getting a respectable mid 6 score, and still I get the occasional 3. I had one entry finish in the 7.2 range, came in 5th over all, and there were 4 voters that gave it a 3. I think some people get a kick out of being a troll knowing that people react the way they do when someone says their work is crap. Says more about the losers giving the low scores than about the work they're trashing.

I did not enter the challenge, therefor I was even more criticle of the entries.
Sorry, but if I saw natural light,...too bad.

Perhaps it also says something about us. Maybe if we didn't complain they would go away? I won't say a word about my 0.05 drop I received this evening. |

Wow and I thought my .03 drop was bad after one vote! However, since that one very bad vote I've gotten about 7 more votes...now I'm down .05 with you !

Hope you can tell that it is definitely natural light then. :) |

I dont understand.....why would you be any more or less critical just because you had not entered your own photo? You should not base your critiques upon anything other than their own merit. Whether you entered or not should be totally irrelevant.

Come on, you can't tell? There is no argument that I could be wrong, as a matter of fact there were a couple that caught my attention that I did not score low that I was unsure of.
However, a flash, or a standard hot light that an average photog may possess in their kit will not have the same qualatative value as the sun.
The only lights available to mimic the sun are expensive to buy, and not worth renting for a virtual ribbon.
So pounce on me all you want, I am sticking to he heart of the discription of the challenge.
Sorry.

not pouncing at all. just saying that if you are scoring *down* because you think it is natural light, i hope you are proof positive. You have already said that you didn't score down those that you are unsure of, so all is well. right? ;) |

As you are probly able to distinguish between the differance from a fiddle and a violin, I too have my expertise.

oh, hmmm, a lot of them are titled along the lines of "morning sunshine" and "natural sun" etc... those, I think you can be sure of, but I like to be nice and a DNMC photo that was executed alright will get a 4 from me, at least just in case I was too dumb to see how it met the challenge |

I think it is easy to tell in most cases. There are so many pics in the challenge where sky is included, unless it's deep in the night and very cloudy, there is alwyas natural light. Also, there are some pictures, where more than one light source is visible, although the main subject is lit by a spotlight. Others show objects with light reflections on both side. Then there are some with light falling through a window. I'd consider all those DNMC and I don't care, if people send me angry PMs calling me picky. |

I think you should know what light and lack of light does before judging over it. Got some comments about not using a single light source, but if you look closely it is.
I've been there while shooting (duh ;-)) and I know it is.

Arghhhhh, I hate mornings. I watched my score slowly but steadily climb over 24 hours, wake up this morning to only 1 new vote, and it's a stinkin' 2. |

What the *&%$#%$ happened??!?!!? I go into town for the Chicago GTG, we shoot like all get out, I come back, log in ... and my score drops a stinking 0.15 ... garsh :(
I was looking for a positive, not a negative. Everyone get back in there and vote properly: jp == 10. Now. Or I'm turning this car around!

Mine's gone down that much too. The trolls were out this weekend. Seems strange that so many of the scores are going South consistantly the last 2 days. It will be interesting to see the scoring spread on mine and probabaly yours. Good luck!
