I jumped to the rant because of this thread I have to ask America what are you doing??

Surely with the wealth and infrastructure America has it can clean up its own back yard.

Instead of spending billions in foreign countries why don't you look after your own people at home?

End of rant..... go back to your own business.

probably becasue if we didnt send all the foreign countries oodles of cash every time they had a disaster we would be called a selfish rich insensititve country and the offended country would then decide to end any commerce with us. Then they would beg other countries to do the same.

Wearin' my toque, eating backbacon, tuning my snowmobile, working on plans for next year's igloo, sending the pet beaver to the orthodontist and renewing my membership dues to the Bob and Doug McKenzie club.

Take off, eh? Hoser.

That happens anyway! just maybe that oil is more important at the moment, I'm sure if New Orleans had the oil fields that Iraq has we would see the whole place cleaned up.

Dude - an entire major city was wiped out.... and its only been a few months. HOOOGE amounts of progress has been made, but there is still much to do there. New Orleans alone is estimated to take up to 10 years to fully recover. Its not like they can dash down there and toss up a new 200 year-old city!

We have been heavily focusing on Reality TV game shows...like Idol, for example, video games, the ipod and Angelina's new baby with Brad. That's the short list.

These are very important things that take up most of our time and energy. Any right thinking person would easily understand the burdens we Americans carry.

Hahaha! So true. More Americans read about what's going on in the country from People magazine more-so than Time or Newsweek. And who needs CNN when you have the E! channel?

Also, invading and occupying countries halfway around the world costs A LOT of money.

Besides, kenskid's picture was of a poor neighborhood, and not a tourist area. It's on the bottom of the priority list... which is why its levees weren't constructed properly in the first place. I'd like to give Republicans all the credit for this, but Democrats ultimately have the same priorities, just not as blatantly and extremely.

See the guy on the right... his mom played the organ at my wedding. A super-nice woman. She helped us pick out the tunes too. My brush with almost-fame. :-) Then we drank some beers, eh.
