Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

an uncropped image of a moth i have not seen in the area before. and a 640x640 crop of the same image. anyone know what this bug is?

I'm not sure what the common name is but the scientific name is "Mothis pencilis" :-)

anyone have an idea? i have done a bit of searching for local moths and haven't seen this one. i don't have an insects of eastern us audubon book though.

I live in MA, and I grew up in NH - and I have never seen a little guy like that before. I'm sending the pic onto a buggy hobbyist friend though, I'll let you know if he knows what it is. :)

it was stuck in the screened in porch. i caught it in a pint glass, cooled it down for a bit. picked it up on the pencil tip and photographed. then i put the pencil outside and let it go free.

pretty bad ass looking bug. i've got a few sharp images i have not had time to process. i'll post them here when i get a chance.
