I've begun doing some work as both a writer and photographer for a local magazine. I thought I'd share my first article, which came out today:

The Point North

What a wonderful and touching story! Very reassuring for people, like myself, who have waited to have children for the very same reasons.

It looks like you have a promising career as a writer. Congratulations!

Very well writen. I too had those questions about myself and being a father. I now have three sons rangeing in ages from 12 to three months. It has been the most rewarding thing I have ever or will ever do. They are my life and joy. Thank you for shareing you story, very touching.

Nice and touching. There is an odd flow from the pre-child to post-child writing. It seems to just jump into the "we now have a kid" phase. A gradual transition, with perhaps a joke/quip about *how* you became parents, might work well. As a whole, it might be best to have a "message" rather than a "story," per se. In other words, where the article currently appeals to the person who might want to know more about you, it doesn't tell the reader a lot about themselves.

But, again, its a touching and sincere piece.

You're right, and points well taken. In my defense, the original article was much longer, but had to be pared back to 500 words. I definitely struggled with trying to trim it down to the appropriate length while keeping continuity intact. It's a start, though :)

They don't warn you about this part in the parenting classes! Nice work : )
