Show your shots from (roughly) a year ago (or when you started getting 'into' photography)...and from more recently to show how you see things differently now.

----------

I'll go first...

These are basically the same scenes (roughly a year apart)...Anyway, they're within a quarter mile of eachother, some within 10 feet. The thing that strikes me is what I *chose* to photograph then, the angle and composition I picked, and the location I chose to represent to the viewer the scene as I saw it, and the compositions I chose more recently.

Granted they may have done well in challenges, but I personally find the newer ones much more interesting. Some may mistakenly think that this is a case of Fuji S5100 vs. Nikon d70 and a select batch of lenses...well yeah, a decent selection of lenses plays a part in this, but I'd be willing to bet not as big a part as some would imagine.

It's more of a 'development' over time...choosing the right place to photograph, choosing the right composition, the right focal length, and making a proper exposure...anyway...

Great improvements-- specially on the covered bridge shot..
This kinda falls into the "take 2" catergorie,, are you considering any of these locations again? :)

PS-- I still say the 70-200/F4 is razor sharp!! :) (thats a personal joke for all you thread readers)

Hey deapee, I like your 2004 version of that bridge better. :) Although your newer version isn't so bad either.

heh we all got our own preferences...as long as *you* can see an improvement in your own work, then that's what really matters...

I'm glad you like it though, thanks.

I really do like the 2004 bridge, too, but definitely like the 2006 versions of the rest!

I've not yet reached one year, but I have noticed improvement, especially in composition - which I believe is the difference between a "picture" and a "photograph".
