I have used Word Perfect for many years as my prefered program when I am using graphics (for a brochure, flyer, etc.)
Suddenly, I cannot insert a graphic into my documents. I have always used:
"insert - graphic - from file - my file"
There is then generally a small icon saying "conversion in progress"
Now, I get "Invalid custom directory specified in corelapp.ini." and I can't do what I need.
I have an older version...Word Perfect 10, but have used it hundreds of times on this computer. I use it for all my marketing pieces as a Realtor.
Any suggestions???? |

I've been frantically searching for the cd, but can't find it! I'm sure it's around someplace.... |

This is a permissions problem.
Search for the error message string on the Corel website HERE
Keep in mind that your version is old and the knowledge base will refer to Windows 2000 and not XP, but I'm sure the solution is basically the same. |

Do you get the error right after you choose insert>graphic>from file, as the dialog opens? If so, try going to preferences and look to see if the directory specified as the default file location is still valid. It might be that you moved or renamed a folder that Word Perfect tries to use as the default for this action.
Edit for typo

I found the cd and tried to reinstall, but it wouldn't even let me do that. I've done this type of things a lot of times before. I keep getting
"Setup32 has encountered a problem and needs to close"
I will try the other suggestions. |

Man...this is really ticking me off. I have all my templates based on this program. All my postcards, my flyers, my marketing pieces and ads. It's going to be a major pain to switch them all to something new.
Nothing I do seems to be working. I've tried inserting different photos, different formats, opening a new file....and nothing is allowing me to do what I want. Bleh! |

Just curious and this may sound dumb, but have you tried restarting the computer?

It doesn't sound dumb....and yep, tried that as my last resort.
Thanks for all the ideas. I decided to go ahead and try duplicating my marketing piece in Word. I hate using graphics in Word, but I suppose I'll have to learn. :( |
