The good member challenges stop. I've been finding myself more inspired by the open challenges than the member ones..
I barely missed the self portrait one, but then heat? architecture? and now empty room?
architecture would have been cool, but there is nothing exciting around here and I can't justify spending the money to drive to San Francisco and I wasn't feeling creative enough to find a way to make an old boring building look interesting
If anyone is experiencing a surplus of creativity, feel free to send some my way for the empty room challenge, I have some cool photo ideas in my head, but can't seem to think of a place or a way to get them |

I'll do the honors ;-).... I kinda know what u mean to. Beatles and single light source is more in my interest than architecture and empty room, but thats just a taste thing eh? |

I think it's a case of "the grass is greener..."
Or, it's like when you cancel your HBO movie subscription because there is never anything good on and as soon as you do, there are loads of good movies.
Or something similar!!!!

When I saw the Empty Room and read the description, my first thought was, "nope, not entering that one." But I do have an idea, just not the means to shoot it. Maybe you do. If you want it, PM me. If you can do it, it would be pretty cool. |

Mmmhhh... what would classify as a 'good' challenge in your mind?
Something that, when read, gives you an immediate solution?
That could be your very worst enemy.
Personally it often helps to really think about the challenge... dig deep and think hard. Walk around and think of the challenge and accept any inspiration.
You may find that "first-base" thoughts generally tend to score low, whereas some deeper thoughts and ideas really reflect on a submission.
Sure, in this case the open challenges were maybe easier, but never 'better'.
You as a photographer have an unspoken duty to be able to master your elements across all platforms. Dont restrict yourself with what you're comfortable with. Break boundaries, shoot things you have never shot before - and if you fail... learn from it, and carry on.
Being versatile with your camera is a more than just a tool... it's a ticket to a world of possibilities.
But enough of the uplifting speech... :)

Yes... I see what you mean, and you know, I'd have to agree.
I have a few good ideas (for empty room at least), but I guess the problem is trying to find a way to execute them with the equipment and resources I have available to me.
I'm also weary of stepping too far outside the box, for the challenges that is, because DPC majority tend to like cut and dry interpretation. However, I Have found in my few entries here so far, opportunities for cool photos while shooting for the challenges (taking some variated shots for other projects simultaneously)
Thanx for the replies, the thread killing comment was really just a joke I haven't put down yet from the other threads...
I appreciate the input |

Thats not a problem. It's a challenge in itself! :) |
