hi all,
i was wondering ... i like to take photos very very much in every occasion i can, but it's really difficult for me since i have a LOT of obligations and things to do just like everyone else i presume :-) ... ya know ... work, kids, wife, this and that ... and the point is i simply have no time left for my favorite hobby besides late nights when i barely keep my eyes open LOL ... i know some dudes/dudetes are filling the photo hunger on weekends, that's okay ... but my weekends are filled with OPI's (other people ideas) LOL , and stuff i didn't finish during the week, kids and stuff ... oh my.
okay enough crying :-), tell me your story maybe i'll learn something or i'll pick some cool ideas from you ... my photogs. :-)
peace,
goran
PS: i removed my achivements and goals from my profile page because i remembered that i'm here for fun and something to learn if i find some time :-)

I am lucky in that my wife is into photgraphy too ( we are both on your WPL team) she is better at it than me which hurts the ego some times but it makes it eaiser to get time for it and spend money on it since she wants to too. wish I had better advice. |

You can annoy other commuters by taking pictures on your way to work. ;-)

It's great to hear that you are devoted to your family! One thing though that I believe is that if a favorite hobby is very neglected, that's not good for the emotional health of the individual, which will end up impacting the family. I'd suggest something like, "okay guys, you know I love you, but I'm going to spend ten minutes a day* doing photography, and after that I'm yours again".
*or of course whatever works. |

My husband Wavelength and our oldest kiddo are just photo junkies too. Our daughter firmly believes that since we each have a DSLR we should give her our more glorified P&S rather than the Canon powershot she usually gets to use. She's 6!!! She even wants her own acct. here. As far as time goes- there is never enough. I always have the cameras where ever we go. If I get an oppurtunity- I take it. We also make a family thing of going on outings to parks and things and taking photos. The two little ones (3 & 2) don't always love this all that much but the 3 year-old is getting pretty ok with a camera too. |

it really helps when your significant other is into your hobby -- if not, try involving them in the hobby. making them a model, helping with setup ect. seeing the results together can be exciting.

ok.. I always find it amusing when people say they don't have time to take pictures.
in the past year my life has been like this :
I am a single parent with a 2 year old girl and a 4 year old boy.
I am a plumber with my own company
I go to school both in the daytime and in nightschool
I finished photography study in college in one year, usually it takes 3 years, I just worked harder.
I'm studying for my masters craftsman degree in plumbing in nightschool.
my kids are at daycare from 7:30 am until 4pm and I havn't missed a single day getting them on time, and I am with them until they fall asleep at night.
I still have plenty buisness for my plumbing company wich makes close to $100.000/year while I'm in school.
and even with the 13 hours of school every day, 4 hours of work, and 6 hours of taking care of my kids, I still have time to take pictures :)
oh... I forgot.. I am also a member of a photography club and I do take active part in the clubs activity, and I'm a part of 4 big photography forums and am active there to :)
so if people with normal houshold don't have time to take pictures... then it's time to rearrange your time scedule to fit the photography in... somwhere between "desperate houswifes" and "Survivor" ;)

You're awake 23 hours a day? I thought I had sleeping problems. |

Just wear your camera, take pictures of the school, plumming, kids, and anything else you do all day. I think the bigger question is if you have time to upload them for others to see. |

You can always just do what I do...Incorporate photography into work.
We had our memorial day parade today and instead of marching or driving with the Fire Department or an Ambulance I walked and took photos.
The only problem comes when the band that is in front of the fire department starts falling to the ground. I had time to get one picture taken before I had to pitch in and help take kids to the hospital...
PS: Everyone was alright after getting out of the sun and getting rested and rehydrated.
PSS: I also have my camera with me EVERYWHERE I go. I've actually had coworkers get mad at me if I show up without the camera and they want a photo taken. |

I'm with Boomtap. I have over 500 photos that haven't been processed yet. Heck, I took over 150 just today that are sitting there mocking me. |

No, he's awake twenty four hours a day. That last hour is the one reserved for photography. :-P Not even any time to use the bathroom! :-O

lately the business end of photography has been taking more time than the photography itself. Kinda sad, but hey, what's a guy to do?
