Yes.....I am back, and so happy and also excited, as my life has been so unbearable without my computer.
Lets start at the beginning. About eleven days ago, we had a power surge, and half our power IN OUR HOME went off.
My dear husband was able to find that our garden lights were to blame. Power was restored, but when I went to my computer a couple of hours later, my hardrive was down, as it had no power.
My first thought was that I am in terrable strife, as I haven't been saving my images on to disc regulally, so hoped I hadn't lost everything.
My second thought was that I had images to upload into a challenge, and running out of days. I was lucky with that one, as a froend allowed me to upload my image on his computer, so many thanks to him for that.
Now what was going to happen next.
I rang my computer technicion, and thay said to bring in the hardrive as soon as possible. I did this ten days ago. They phoned me later that day, to say I haven't lost anything, and that my power board was down and needed replacing.
Due to an extended warranty on my Heward Packard PC, the part had to be a "Heward Packard" power board replacement. They said three working days, and all should be fixed.
Drama.....drama.....ten days later it finally arrived, and my technician fixed the problem in no time.
I picked up my hardrive today, and now back into cyber space at last.....
I am so pleased to be back.....
The moral to this story is to do all your back up files on disc, and also use a power protector as well.....
I missed you all so much, all the challenges, the voting and comments, I love to do. I also missed the threads, and the discussions, that I love to get involved in.
Please be patient with me, if I owe you an email, as my mail is overloaded, with emails for me to answer.
I will get to each and everyone as soon as possible.....
I AM BACK, SO YOU WILL SEE ME AROUND AGAIN IN VARIOUS THREADS, VOTES AND COMMENTS.
My husband has been VERY PATIENT WITH ME, as I am now spending my time back on my computer, and away from the TV, and "channel changing" all the time. He finally has the TV to himself, and is very contented.

Yay! Glad to see you back! I was thinking about you and had noticed you hadn't been around. Good to hear all is well, and thanks for the back-up reminder - I need to go do that. Welcome back!

Welcome back Shez! I'm having my own computer troubles right now, but have a wonderful costumer sertvice department that is not going to make me wait until July 10th to get it repaired...they're just giving me a new laptop in place of the broken one.
How did you handle two weeks of internet withdrawal? Hopefully you still got out there and shot some new pics for your portfolio. |
