Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

Okay...some of you may be aware from previous discussions with me, that I was preparing for the local show this week. Well the verdict is in. Both Kita and I entered into the Photographic Section and here are the results.

Out of the 19 categories in the Open section I took the following -

1st - 16
2nd - 15
Highly Commended - 19

Reserve Champion
Most Points Overall - 96 (My nearest rival had 9 points)

Out of 6 categories in the Juvenile (up to 13 years old) Kita took the following -

1st - 6
2nd - 4
Highly Commended - 2 (including one in the open section)

Reserve Champion
Grand Champion
Most Points Overall Juvenile

So from our efforts we take home prize money, ribbons, certificates and Professional Photo Frames.

Kita was happy as this is the second year running she has taken both Champion ribbons. I am very proud of her achievements.

Maybe they'll give up next year and just call it an "exhibition" - it sounds as though the "competition" element is a little overshadowed!

Thanks JP....yeah it was a bit one sided...lol!!

Matthew...to give you an indication...there was over 400 entries...so while we did well...there was plenty of competition...! We were pleased with the results...!

As you can appreciate, there are too many to show in one hit. But here are the ones that took the majors.

Surprisingly this image took the Open Reserve Champion and was entered in the Manipulated Category.

Fantasia

This image took the Grand Champion Juvenile.

(but with alterations that were suggested to her by DPC members.

This image took Reserve Champion Juvenile.

You go gurl!! I got 10 1st's out of 25 pics in our local show aswell as most successful exhibitor Go us Aussie girls!!! lol

Congratulations to you and Kita for your great showings. It is well deserved.

I'm not surprised, though. You, like so many at DPC, are a gifted photographer and it is only natural that others would recognize that.

Kita is an astounding photographer for her age and incredibly good for any age.

Hey now...you won't know unless you give it a go. There is only one way to learn and you should try it. Entering into a comp of any form gives you an insight to your works capability as well as giving you tips on improving...both from other peoples entries and, if you are lucky, from the judge. In time you will see yourself improve...but if you don't try...you never will.

If you took 16 first places out of 19 catergories doesnt that only leave 3 left?

No doubt - I simply meant that you might find that next year everyone else gives up!

Well to let you in on a little secret....they did try to stop me from entering this year as I cleaned up last year. But as I found out they do that to anyone that cleans up I was infuriated...so out of spite and for the benefit of the town I refused and entered again....they will not control who can and who can't enter....!

They also wanted Kita to be moved from Juvenile to Open...I refused, so the rules were changed. Juvenile was changed from under 18 to under 13 this year...and a Novice section was put in.

I don't mind pulling out but I will not allow others to be kicked out over someones jealousy of ribbon taking. So I stood up to it.

And as it turned out more people entered this year which makes me really happy. I am not after the glory...but I will stick up for the people.

Okay-- I must have taken my stupid pill todayy--
So if there are 3 left- but you took 15 2nd place ribbons--

wouldnt that make 31 cats..

I feel stupid, what am I missing? lol

Try thinking along this line.....I think, from memory, that I took 14 firsts and seconds in the same category!!!

There were limits as to how many entries per category per person...I was under that limit and still picked up the placings.

I was assuming you could only enter 1 photo per catergorie--

I feel less stupid now-- :)
