Ok, maybe not really for a walk, but this week I took two of my snakes outside for some natural light pics. We have this great little tree in our yard that is perfect to pose them on. I have seen my roommate do it with his snakes so thought I would give it a try myself.
This is Dax - he is an 04 Gray Banded Kingsnake. They are native to western Texas and adjacent areas of Mexico. I bought him as an adult from a friend. He is already full grown at about 3 1/2 feet and the sweetest snake I have ever had the opportunity to handle:
And this is Clementine - she is my 06 Miami Phase cornsnake. She is still a baby and not even a foot long yet. Cornsnakes can be found anywhere in the US, but from the name - Miamis and Miami Phase are found in and around Miami Florida. They have a unique silver/gray or tannish colored background compared to the darker brown found on most "normal" cornsnakes (there are a wide variety of colors/morphs available).
As always, any comments are appreciated! Hope you enjoy these shots of my little buddies as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Its kinda funny that way! LOL. My roommate got his first one (this time around..he had them as a teenager) in February. I thought it was cool, have always liked snakes, but decided I would get a crested gecko instead. Love my little crestie - but Joe kept bringing home more and more snakes (14 to date) and I finally couldn't help myself. I have three now (didn't take any outside pics yet of my striped California Kingsnake) with more to come. They are addicting. And snakes like these don't get to be huge. Dax if full grown already, Clementine will max out around 4ft, and my striped Cal. king might make 5-6feet. But they aren't large bodied like the pythons or boas. I love the big snakes, but couldn't see myself owning one so these guys are perfect for me!

hrmm...not sure I'd take my snakes and let them frollick in the bushes...can't they pick up some parasites or something? Just curious.
I had a corn snake (okeetee) for a number of years...I've always wanted a ball python, but I just never get around to getting one...probably best that way anyway...I never took my corn out to play with it, which is probably not the best way...so I feel bad. I couldn't get another snake.

These are great shots - really show off the snakes well and show how well they can blend with their natural environment too. Great detail on the eyes and the scales. Good work!

wow, these are nice photos!! gives me some great ideas to do on my own, course I could never get Windelle to sit still long enough to take a picture, lol...
Also, ArpeggioAngel, you do realize this thread has a good chance of changing into a "bragging" place for proud snake owners, don't cha?... lol :}
(PS, my ex and I got into that snake addiction that you were talking about, by the time we broke up, we had an 11ft red tailed boa, a 6ft one, a 4ft one, two fully grown ball pythons, two california kings, and my little milk snake as our main keeps, a few others that never stayed with us for long, but we were thinking of going into breeding, but then broke up. all I kept was Windelle, I didn't put up much of a custody battle cuz he was the only one I cared for that was solely mine and not his too... we also had a pretty big mouse and rat breeding project that I wouldn't care to ever deal with again, lol)
But yeah, snakes can be a lot of fun and relaxing too, not to mention low maintainance (maintenance?), and I think that you did an awesome job with the pics you took. at first I thought you had taken them at the zoo and was surprised to read that they were your own that you took outside... nice work! |

I wouldn't mind at all if more people posted pics of their snakes or other reptiles on this thread.
They do make quite cool pets. That is all I have mine for although my roommate is going to start breeding in the next year or so. |

cool! I wish him luck, I have some friends who are highly esteemed snake breeders of (I think 30 years) the husband went to school for herpatology, recognized nation wide, etc, if he ever runs into any questions he can't seem to answer, feel free to ask me and I will try to get a good answer for you from them. |

You should send me a PM with their name. Both of us are on cornsnakes.com which is a great forum with lots of reputable breeders from all over the world (although mainly US). Who knows...we might have run into them already! |
