Well, I finally went and did it. Circuit City is offering no interest for 2 years on digital cameras so I just bought a 30D. Not quite khdoss's camera (which I drooled over at Virginia GTG) but a vast improvement over the 300D. The price at Circuit City was $50 more than B&H and there are no shipping charges so I don't think I lost money and was able to buy with out finance charges. Yippee! Went for the 30D over the 20D as it was only $100 more.
My 300D, at 40,000+ shutter actuations, was starting to make me nervous. Kind of like have a car with 150K miles. Didn't want to risk a break down at the wrong moment.
So now I wait 7 days... it will be a loooong 7 days. The new tripod will have to wait. :) |

Today my camera is in Illinois. I am so stupid. I could have paid $11 to have expedited shipping. $11 whole dollars? What was I thinking?
d, who now checks fedex every 4 hours in anticipation and is even thinking of taking the day off to be home when it arrives... |

Congrats on buying the new 30D - you're gonna love it. I think - no I KNOW - I would have paid the extra $11 to have it faster. I'm crazy like that

Its not here yet! Its on a truck in IL. I have a superstition about mentioning the obvious - if you say it out loud, it won't happen, such as, "Wow! Its the 9th inning and he's pitching a no-hitter!" This is guaranteed to jinx whatever happens next. Just ask Mike Mussina. Or my son. :)
If I change my profile, the truck will go over a bridge into a river, flooding it and all its contents. Circuit City will have no more so it will be on backorder. The plant where they are made will catch fire and production will be delayed two months while they rebuild. Nope, not gonna risk it. ;) |

I did the same upgrade the beginning of april - you'll love it.
now go get a 2Gb CF card. kingston elite for $64 or so at zipzoomfly.com.
you have bigger files now and 5fps is cool but can fill a card in a blink of an eye!
You did good getting the 30D over teh 20D.

I was sold on the spot metering. For $100 its worth it.
Since I washed my 4G microdrive and fried it, I'll have to get something new. Never another microdrive! The CF cards are washable. :) I'll check that out. |
