some camera models are actually the exact same thing except their model numbers/names due to regional distribution or marketing reasons. some quick examples are the Canon IXUS and PowerShot/Elph series. Is it a good idea to merge these kind of camera models as one on the site? Well if you look at the equipment listing, can we just point both links (from each model name) back to the same page? Thanks for your time. |

That's a good idea.
I would like to take it a step further and combine all the different mounts of 3rd party lenses. For example: the Sigma 70-200mm is available for Nikon, Canon, and other mounts. Shouldn't it just all be combined?
Any objections? |

i definetly agree... in the lens case, though, there should be information as to what mounts are available if this is changed... good idea, guys |

are they the same lens except for the mount?
in that case, yes, that would make for a fair grouping. |

I'm pretty sure they are all the same lens. Just different mounts and also there are HSM motors in the Nikon and Canon ones. |

The mount probably makes less of a difference than the size sensor the lens is used with -- crop sensors only use the sweet spot; you get to see how good the edges are with FF.
And there's no way to tell if a Canon mount lens was used on FF or crop sensor short of reading the EXIF data on each photo. |
