I'd like to see the option to ignore a user happen. |

Great idea Di. I think it would help in keeping things in forum threads from getting so heated as they sometimes do, as what you don't see doesnt bother you.

I think if I were gonna put you on an ignore list you would already suspect it as I would never reply to your posts (at least not in a friendly way). But since I do reply to you, then you must not be one of the people that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Sounds like a great way to increase misunderstandings in the forums...
I find that people already ignore too many posts... I recently got heckled by the peanut gallery for responding to some questions by the Original Poster of a thread that weren't on the topic of the OP. I never saw anything licensing said individuals as the "Forum Police" and they certainly weren't SC... But if these sorts of individuals can over-react to something fairly innoccuous like that, imagine what they would do if they were missing context in posts that they had 'ignored' and missed.
Nope, I'm against this one.... If you don't like someone, either discuss it rationally with that individual or ignore him/her/what they say in your own brain. If you can't control yourself, you might want to consider why before simply gagging things you don't like.
Basic people skills... |

It's not an option I would personally use here. Not to offend, but I think its just a matter of whether or not one has the inner ability and stamina to ignore without the need of a button. You simply just pass it by if it bothers you. Better yet, IMO, would it not be more beneficial as a community to try and make amends with those that bother you rather than just closing them off with some button option?
However, there is already the option of the "report post" and "ignore thread", for those that are beyond hope during discussion, as well as bagging yourself during comments, etc. I think DPC offers enough options now to be totally sufficiant as a forum, IMHO.
EDITED TO ADD: And I totally agree with eschelar as well. Must have been writing as I was :)

Oh, that's easy. I thought that Rose8699 was rather boring. When I first signed up it was just something I took from the top of my head. I didn't give a username much thought. So after being here a while, I looked up some stuff in the thesaurus that related to photography and came across "espy", which means To catch sight of (something distant, partially hidden, or obscure); glimpse.. I thought this was more befitting for a photography site and a username for it, so I went with it. :)

Haha.
I've been involved in another board for many years where you can ignore certian people. The fun part is that you can see the number of people you are ignoring and the number of people who are ignoring you (not the particular people, though).

I think you are quite correct. Personally speaking, I am always willing to work out a disagreement with anyone who has issues. Life is too short to remain in constant aggitation.

Yeah, I am currently involved in another site where you can also ignore users. I had issues with one person there once, and put them on ignore. It was SO weird though. LOL...All the posts before and after theirs were so grosely out of context that it wasn't worth it. Eventually we did end our decension, and that was wonderful. It's truly amazing though. You can be angry over something so foolish with someone and it causes aggravation for months, but only a few simple words between each other on a positive side, and then you find out it was all for naught. So I say just make amends with your oppressor. No ignore buttons will end a problem, and it only causes more, IMO.

HAHAHA, that's cute! LOL...(Do I see a hint of your Beatles entry in that statement? "Please, Please Me")
