Thanks again everyone. My insurance won't pay for a chiropractor so I will let my regular doc take a crack at it first. The pain diminishes a great deal when I'm sitting so that is where I've been the last couple of hours.

| Sorry to hear of your pain. My mom and brother both have degeneration of the disks and are on daily pain meds and patches for pain management. The one thing no one has mentioned is ice. Try to alternate between ice and heat. It will reduce the inflamation. I know it sounds hookey but it does work. Once the pain subsides, walking or even swimming is the best exercise to strengthen the muscles around the bones in the back and keep them in place. Definately go to the emergency room if the pain is unmanageable before your docs appointment. My mom spent 10 days in the hospital after going to the ER just to get her pain undercontrol. A few hours before, her doctor saw her and recommended the salon pas which is more like bengay on tape. Sometimes they assume if you aren't already at the ER, the pain is tolerable. |
