Together with the 30D, I bought the Canon TC-80N3 remote controller. And it's acting weird!

Sometimes when I just touch the outside of the RC (NOT the button, just the outside!), the lens starts focussing, sometimes it actually releases the shutter! This is quite annoying when you're taking photos. There are no settings in the RC, everything stands on zero.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? What can I do?

Check and make sure its plugged in completely, I doubt its loose but its possible.

What I'm guessing is that is a faulty remote, or slightly less likely the port on your camera is faulty. Sounds like a short circuit and when you touch the outside its making a contact somewhere/sometimes.

Do you have a local camera store where you could try a different remote and isolate the problem to the remote or the camera itself?

it's plugged in allright ;)

I know this is the right RC for this camera, I got this advice from the store. But I absolutely don't know anything about circuits and stuff, so I'll leave it to the camera store guys ;-)

thanks!

Touch a radiator before using the remote. You might be loaded with static electricity.

I'm gonna try that one Gloda, before going to the shop.

Thanks!
