Finally had an opportunity to get to the park and photograph the dragonflies. We get quite a wide variety of size, shapes and colors. Unfortunately, I didn't have as much time as I would have liked so these are the only two that I really liked from the few shots I took.

As always, any comments are appreciated!

Very nice. Do they let you get that close?

The first one is very crisp-- well done--

The 2nd one has the great detail on the wings, but the body is kinda soft..

Nice pics though-- S5100 must have a pretty good macro mode.. :)

The ones at the park by my house seem pretty used to having people around. I find if you have a little patience they come back to the same landing spots over and over again. If I set up and wait, they always come back and don't seem to mind me standing quite close. Some of them will "buzz" me though...trying to get me to leave! I just have to keep one eye on the water for gators.

The macro on the S5100 isn't bad. It is the first camera I have ever had with macro and I really enjoy using it. I know the body on the 2nd one is a little out of focus, but he was actually above me and even with the tripod at its fullest extension I was having to pick it up a little to get a better angle. Probably got a little "shake" in my photo.

Thanks for looking!

my friend and i took some pics last week of a dragon fly he found, and i notice that it's difficult to focus on the wings and body together; anyways, nice images, i personally like the first one.
