I posted my non entered self portrait before the challenge began and a comment from fotomann suggested I do it in color and use a psychedelic gradient map. So I did, and I think I like this one better. Any comment, if any, will be returned in hopefully a timely fashion. My question is this. When you do a filter like this, is this allowed in advanced editing? I only did it on the background. If I could have done this legally, I will kick myself. Not sure if this is considered a filter, or if the filter needs to be applied to the entire image.

I did not enter the challenge. That is the point. This is not an outtake. I simply am sharing the one I might have entered but thought I couldn't due to the question of filters, etc. It shouldn't really affect the voting since I didn't enter any image in the self portrait challenge. I sat it out.

People here get really upset over "swaying voters", I've had a thread deleted for showing a photo of a boy when I entered a girl in a challenge.
That's a neat photo though. Very psychedelic. Reminds me of the addams family guy with all the hair, lol. |

I personally find nothing wrong with posting a photo that isn't even entered in the challenge. It can't possibly sway voters for or against if its not an outtake or was never entered.
Actually, I was one of the voters that is all for outtakes being posted on a private forum. Then you can either look or not look according to preference.

| I thought an outtake was an outtake if you entered the challenge. Since I didn't enter an image in the challenge it really can't be considered an outtake. It is simply an image that is posted. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. I just want to know if the technique is legal. If it is,then I might use something like it in a different challenge, (say heat) Just needed to know what is considered a filter and what is not. |

I know that youre not allowed to add any image data, just adjust what you already have and since you're adding a whole background, that is not allowed under advanced or basic rules.
You can double check with a more experienced member or SC , but I'm fairly positive that it's illegal. |

I hope you guys don't mind - but this is an outtake, and I think it would be better to discuss it after the self-portrait challenge is over.
The initial thread was edited so that the picture doesn't show.
