Has anyone had any problems with intermittent autofocus failure on the 20d?

I have noticed it with my 24-70L recently. I will be shooting away (studio shots) and suddenly the autofocus with fail. Turning the camera off then on again resolves the problem, but it is quite annoying.

It happened twice today during a 1.5hr shoot.

I have that same problem . . . but mine is due to a faulty lens. Try doing a photo-shoot somewhere with a different lens and see if the problem still occurs.

That would SUCK if it was that lens. I'll have to try it with another as you suggest.

perhaps you just need to clean the contacts on the lens?

I tried cleaning the contacts but I'm sure that's not it. The lens I'm having problems with is my 15 year old 70-300mm USM. It's not worth saving (I've alreday taken off the insurance on it). I was just about to buy the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 to replace it when my wife's transmission broke.

Good luck JR. That's a sweet lens. I hope it's not your lens (of course, then that would mean it's the camera!)

The camera would be cheaper to replace...LOL!!!

The camera and the lens are only 6 months old or so. At least they are both under warranty.

Pug----I'll give the contacts a clean, just in case!
