Now presenting... Team Suck Awards!

Ladies, gentlemen and otherwise, let me introduce you to...

The Sucker!!

This glorious award will be presented by members of Team Suck to worthy photographers of DPC in order to recognize achievements that may otherwise not get recognized.

Our first two awards will be presented in the Environmental Portrait challenge. If it turns out to be a hit, we'll continue them for other challenges (maybe we'll group all the challenges for a week or a month).

First, the Oobie Sucker. Standing for "Out Of the Box," this award is granted to the most creative entry in a challenge. Remember, this is not for the technically best photo, which is what the normal voting seems to cover. This is for artistic inspiration and/or creative interpretation of the challenge. But please, nominate an entry that inspires you, NOT the entry you least understand.

Second, the Yappie Sucker. This award is granted to the best commentor in a challenge. If someone gave you a great comment, or if you happen to read one after the challenge is over, please nominate the commentor.

One of the reasons these sorts of achievements go underacknowledged is because they are difficult if not impossible to assign numerical scores to. Because of that, we will use the following process to grant the awards:

1. Nomination Phase - Begins on Monday and ends at midnight Wednesday.

I will start a thread for nominations on the Challenge Results forum late Sunday or early Monday. *ANYONE* can nominate *ANYONE* in the Environmental Portrait challenge (except themselves). When you nominate, please explain your reasons, as this might be all the judges have to go on. Other people can feel free to add their support for a particular nomination. When you are nominating a photo, please include the thumbnail! When you are nominating or seconding a commentor, please include the comment(s).

2. Voting Phase - begins on Thursday and ends at midnight Saturday.

After the Nomination Phase, Team Suck will decide the winners. Each member is allowed to vote for one nominee per award (voting for yourself is not allowed :P ). In the case of a tie, multiple awards will be given.

Please use this thread for your thoughts on Suckers and your ideas for other things we can give Suckers for.

p.s. suckers also come in a more manageable size for signatures, pockets, etc.

Ok, so somewhere along the lines, I missed the whole team suck thing.

Where do I sign up? What are the requirements? How bad must I really suck? And are there any scary initiations? :D

Pardon me but you have a photo that scored over 7 and even ribboned. Sure, there's such a thing as a fluke, but you have a record of repeated accomplishment that I'm afraid is inconsistent with the level of quality we're trying to maintain here.

*sniff sniff* Yeah.... but I do suck! Out of 29 challenges all but 6 are below 6's.

Man - I can't get excepted into Team Suck, I can't excepted into the elite clubs.... I am going to start my own club and suck all alone!

Hmm looking at your signature AND your quote in bold makes me think 'team middle of the road' is not the first name of your team that springs to mind ;)

btw, I'm more MOTR than you but we have suprisingly similar stats (but I'm more consistently average than you with just 2 6+ scores)

OH, and the first team suck award will go to my EP entry ;)

Hey Don, I appreciate all the cool efforts you have put into making Team Suck THE team to be on :))
Altho my self portrait score is keeping in the Grand tradition of Team Suck, I have had some good comments..I'll have some Yappie nominees for sure!!
