I'm trying to find out the correct name for those sillver trays with silver domed lids that waiters use. Whats it called????

Its really bugging me now.

For a large one I see they refer to the tray as a charger on this site. "Dome and charger", is that maybe what you are looking for?

hmm chaffing dishes to me are the things they put over a small burner to keep food warm (Bain Marie" I think, I will do some research.

The Dome and Charger are what Im after but its not the name im looking for

"Covered Platter" is the only thing I've ever heard them called.

A bain-marie is specifically a heated water-bath into which another container/pot is put. A chafing dish holds food over a flame at the serving/buffet table.
