I am trying to organize my digital music.

I would rather not do it by Decades, but rather do it by Genres.

So Far I got my Catergories set as Rock,Country,Pop,Rap-R&B and Classic Rock.

Some bands like Foo Fighters and Weezer, I got in my rock-- but maybe they are more Alt. Rock.

Then I cant decide where to put Bands like Poison and GnR, at what point does Classic Rock begin, when I think of Classic Rock I think 60's and 70's. Not sure were to place the 80 rock bands.

Also take Kid Rock-- would you put that in Rap or Rock?

Anyway, I'm rambling--
Just wondering how others organize your music on the PC?

I wanted to do that with my music but aside from the super obvious ones, I couldn't figure out what categories stuff should go into so I gave up. I use the grouping feature in iTunes more now and categorize by mood or keywords that make sense to me.

Go to allmusic.com. They have each artist in a Genre, and within that genre by styles. They also have moods, etc associated with the artist.

I wanted to do this and actually attempted it too - lol. I found keeping all my music in one folder and just making sure its alphabatized is the best way....

I do however organize my playlists on my player by mood. :)
