I have had this idea for a few weeks and wondered if it has been considered.
For the past few months we have been averaging about 150 submissions per week to the challenges with about 300 individuals voting on them. The average has steadily been increasing which you can see just by looking at past challenges. Obviously this means that we will potentially have to vote on a lot more photos each week but also the subject matter of the photos for some challenges can become very dull looking at 200 pictures of about the same thing. Also, some people may not like a challenge but will hastily submit something or not submit at all. So, I'm wondering if it is possible to have two seperate topics each week but have the topics be completely different and users can only submit on one of them. Examples might be this weeks Fruits And Vegetables and then the second topic something like Transprtation. Or, Rocks and Loneliness. Something like that so one topic is an object or something physical and the second can represent an idea or feeling or something abstract. That way if I don't have any rocks where I live (not a good example, but...) if I have a good idea of something to represent Lonliness I could still submit and pass my ideas on to others. It may slightly increase, overall, the number of submissions per week because hopefully fewer people would feel excluded by a topic but our voting requirements wouldn't have to change (20% spread out among all or 10-20% per category). Plus, I think it would cut down on vague comments left because someone didn't understand the photo or couldn't relate it to the challenge because of the way they see the photo. Topic "A" may be easier to identify with than topic "B" for someone so they can focus their commenting on that one while still meeting their voting requirements with both.
Just wondering what people would think and if it's possible on the webmasters' part too.

Multiple challenges per week are coming soon. The site will be offering a members area, and members will have access to an additional challenge per week (one challenge will still be free).
Making this work requires some programming, and Drew and Langdon have been working on this and other features.
Stay tuned, exciting things are coming. ;-)
