Hi shutter bugs'. I am a new challenger to this site and also a challenged new photographer. I have only been digital for about 2 weeks now and away from photography for more than 10 years. I hope my background in art assists my photography for the better. This might be unusual but I expect and invite criticism from all of you on my photos' so that I can look outside my "box" and improve my chosen medium at the most accelerated rate possible. I look forward to viewing and showing pictures on this site with all of you. Thanks for you time and comments in advance.

Hi there! Welcome. About the criticism (and comments) There are a few of us that try to comment on all photos Kavey,autool,and myself I know for sure. And there are others who's goal is to comment on all photos too. We also welcome you to comment on photos as well. Your art background could be of some use to us.
You have until midnight (eastern time) to submit a candid shot so get shootin'! :) Then tonight, the topic will change and we start the tedious process all over again. Also, if you have some spare time, you can check out the archived challenges to view past winners, past comments and different "tricks and tips" used.
Feel free to post to the forums at any time for help, ideas, or advice. There is also a chat room you can visit for "emergency" photo stuff. (or just plain ol silly chit chat).
It's good to have you along. You'll be adicted in no time. Hope to see you right here at midnight (eastern time).

It appears there are going to be quite a few of us newbies :) I'm new too. I've been taking photos with my digital camera for a few years, and I've worked for a portrait studio in the past. I'm not sure about my skills as a photographer, so I'm hoping to get some new tips and ideas.

Don't rely on your artistic background to help you here. There will be some that value you and others that despise what you stand for, reguardless of what that is. Have fun.

Ok, i'm a newbie. I have a question and need some HELP! I've been trying to get the information for the ISO,apeture, and shutter speed. However, none of the programs suggested are pulling this information up. Am I the only one with a Sony Mavica FD-83?? If not can someone tell me what program they used to get this information?

Try the program that came with your camera.

i used to have the fd-73 and as far as i know, these older model sony's do not store the exif data so there is no way to really determine this information. when i had my sony i just wouldn't fill in the blanks when submitting. i'm sorry! it is frustrating, isn't it?!

YES it is frustrating!! I've had this camera almost since they first came out. I probably spent the last hour downloading and trying different programs to view the EXIF information. Thank you for responding so quickly!! You were a big help. I won't worry about it for now. HOPEFULLY, I'll be getting a new camera in the next couple of months! :) Thanks for the help!!

I use a free graphics library program.

//www.ryansimmons.com/users/irfanview/english.htm

one of it's plugins also free to download is a reader of the info you want. Irfanvew as several other wonderful uses too.

Don't know about your camera, hope it's not one that doesn't record that data.
