Hi. I've been looking into making a website lately and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as how to go about doing this. Did you make it yourself using dreamwaver? Has anybody used a site like smugmug or something similar? I would really appreciate it any feedback. Thanks in advance!

Hey Charles.
My site is //www.samchadwickphoto.com
Here's what I did:
Domain name: //www.namecheap.com
Web Hosting Space: //www.webhostingbuzz.com
Main Authoring tool: Dreamweaver MX 2004
Slideshow Presentation: //www.slideshowpro.net
Other authoring tool: Flash MX 2004
In my mind the key to a good site is simplicity and communication.
Good luck.

while we're at it, what does anyone think is the bestest of free web page editors?

webpage editors really depend on what type of page you are writing.
HTML, PHP, SQL, Java, DHTML, Flash, or whatnot.
the Cheapest is Notepage. if you know the code you can write it out.
Next, is the unregistered version of sothink. it lasts for as long as you want it to. Just a few minor things you have to work with. which since that has been my editor of choice for the last 4 years.. isn't that big of deal.
Just dled HTML-kit, since I am teaching myself PHP now, which is much easier to deal with once you figure it out, sothink didn't have extras for it. But, come think of it.. the PHP im currently working with im doing most all the editing in notepad L()L. So not sure how much I will really use this new progy. But it was free.
there are tons of progams out there. Just have to do a lookie around.

my site ( in my signature), is just a blogger site. you can upload images to flickr, and use a code to put in slideshows. I am going to add more of my photos under different categories, just haven't gotten around to it yet. It is very easy, and it looks nice (in my opinion)

Heyr heyr
All the free webpage editors are so complicated, its so much easier to take a night in reading about html/php or what ever your going to use and just doing it your self in notepad

I recommend Homesite, it is still about $100 I believe and it is clean coding with a lot of helpful features to speed things up (bold, italic, paragraph buttons for a start). And you can search and replace everywhere which I used to love when I used it on a large website.
