This guy is an amazing photographer! How does he create the surreal painting effect? |

PS2. Don't ask me how. I've been a fan of that guy's clown shot ever since he uploaded it. |

Nice stuff. I'm not sure why everyone's so confused about how he does it though; the answer's obvious ΓΆ€” he uses lots of Photoshop!
Straight from the Bear's mouth, you can take it to the bank :-)

Yup - some neat looking stuff there. More digital art in my opinion than photography though. The processing goes so far as to make it no longer look like photography.

There are a few rather disturbing ones there!
(chubby boy at upper right, guy w/ no eyes and a knife, close up of bearded face w/ all white eyes)
Very interesting work.
And the one near the bottom w/ "cranial rectosis" is pretty funny! |

Damn, but what an awesome photographer/artist. That's what you can do with PS (at least, when there's no challenge restrictions). |

I'm sure it is something like this:
Mask, mask, mask more mask....
levels, curves....
burn, dodge, burn, burn, dodge....
May take days to get the effect he likes...
Repeat... |

Yes, talent with the tools. Definitely more painterly than photographerly (huh?), and consequently more emotive. Just stunning stuff. |

If you like these, you should certainly check out Joel-Peter Witkin. Quite a bit more edgy though, so consider yourself forewarnedOn Zone Zero
