Well I am climbing the walls and in complete hysteria! Bought a new CF card tonight for my Canon 300D, like a dumby I bent a pin in the CF slot, any suggestions on how to fix this without sending it off for a whole week and a 200.00 price to fix it? HELP!! |

If you have some very skinny tweezers you can try and bend it back, but the problem with this is it will just as often break off instead. You might not have much to lose though since you're going to have to send it in either way.
I'd say 2 in 10 chance it doesn't break off, sorry and good luck...
Dave
PS> How'd this happen anyways? |

If you send it into Canon, don't expect it back in one week either. It usually takes 3-4 weeks from them

Doh! That supersucks...
Sorry if I came off all doom and gloom with my first post. How bad is it bent? If its not really really bent you might have better luck straightening it. |

Try your best to be gentle with that pin... you may be able to bend it straight. Cringing.

The pin is on the top row, and bent all the way down into the bottom row, if I had a small enough instrument to get to the tip of the bent pin I may be able to start it, I am going to take it to a jeweler tomorrow and see if he can get it back up, I am afraid it is going to break. |

When I used to work at a camera store we had a few customers bring their cameras in with bent pins. We gave them the choice of us beinding it back or sending it into the manufacturer. We just used thin pliers to strighten them out. Get it as upright as you can and then insert a card carefully which will help line the pin back up. We never had anyone come back saying it had bent again or anything after we did it. You just need to be super careful. Good luck!
