Alright, I don't remember if I ever formally introduced myself, but here it goes.
I am an Architrectural Engineering student at Penn State. I just recently got inspired to take pictures as a hobby instead of just on vacation. I now shoot a Fujifilm FinePix S5200 as its the best I can afford (and I got it as a gift from my dad who used to be into film photography). I have been a member for a while, but havent been very active due to a crazy workload this past semester. I am hoping to be more active in the community and the challenges (and I hope to learn a ton) this summer. Some of my photos can be viewed here: //www.techimo.com/photo/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/112693 (note that there are "artisic" pics as well as just general storage pics there, so don't go bashing some picture that wasnt meant to follow the rule of thirds... :) )

I hope to get to know some of you better and possibly even meet some of you if there are any photo outings happening in the Pittsburgh area.

Thanks, I am used to automatic link tags from the other forum I frequent.

Thans also for the welcome (and for not welcoming me with cheese :) I may be fairly new to the party, but I have been watching and browsing for a while).

welcome friend.

BTW, I wasn't too fond of statics, lateral forces and dynamics in school :( kudos to you for sticking with it ;)

statics wasn't too bad. Dynamics on the other hand.... well lets just say that I am glad that my buildings will be remaining stationary, and definitely not rotationg with changing velocity...

and thanks for the welcome and for calling me friend before you even knew how crazy I was :)

Bill, if you're ever in Delaware, feel free to stop by. There's a lot of great stuff to shoot around here. You might talk to Chris (Prof_Fate), Dave (deapee) or Alan (alanfreed) - they're some good guys to shoot with in Pittsburgh.

oh and yes...WE ARE...PENN STATE

hmm.... if it is deli sliced, provolone, mozzerella, yellow or white american, i would have to go with the cheese, otherwise its the pug.

It's a computer tech forum (www.techimo.com). As far as I know there is only one other photography forum and its the one for my university's photography club :)

Welcome to DPC and I'm looking forward to see your participation in challenges with this great camera.
Some advice:
1. Read the The Unauthorized Beginner's Guide to DPC really carefully.
2. If you use Photoshop for editing, shoot your challenge entries in RAW, make a working copy of the original file and keep the original file safe and unopened. There's a huge difference in image quality between shooting RAW and shooting JPG.
3. Shoot to please yourself and enjoy photography, use this site as a learning tool and don't get discouraged when getting low scores.
