Anybody seen any sample images from this camera yet? Especially low light shots.

No, I'm waiting too. Actually, if you go to DPReview, one of the customer comments has a link to a review at another photo site, but I forget what kind of sample images they had.

What do you guys think about this camera for me? I'm mainly gonna use it for snapshots and video for outdoor activities. I'll probably occasionally enter a challenge with it as I am doing now with my parents' S2. Any other suggestions or would this be a good fit for me?

No suggestions?

I had the S1 and the S2 and was very happy with both. I can only guess the S3 will be even better and I think the $500 price is very good for what you get.
The camera might be a little overkill for snapshots and video, but if it's in your budget, go nuts.

You Haven̢۪t seen any yet? Yesterday i was down in Future shop and they had a test S3 on the shelf. Looks kind of cheap to me, the finish is very strange. After seeing it in person, and getting a chance to take a couple shots, I̢۪m really not that impressed. I mean, it̢۪s not a bad camera by any means, but I guess I was expecting a little more. If your interested in checking it out in person go to Future Shop, or look at it on there site Future Shop.Ca

EDIT: It really is a great P&S camera, I'm just not in the market, just wanted to clarify, lol

I haven't been impressed at all with the S-series. I wish Canon would bring back the G-series.. A G7 with black finish, the same lens from the G6 with maybe a little wider wide angle, 640x480x30fps movies, a really good quality 5mp sensor with usable ISO 400, and a hotshoe would be great - I'd probably buy it to replace my point and shoot.

I just basically need a good multi-purpose camera. One that takes pretty good pics, pretty good video, and fairly portable. I like taking a camera pretty much wherever I go and my parent's S2 has done a good job of everything I've asked out of it except for low light sporting events...ie College Basketball which I love and attend nearly every home game of my college team's. I got to where I could take fairly good pics with it at basketball games but only after heavy photoshop and neat-image processes. So what do you guys suggest? Any camera suggestions will be helpful.

I love mine, most fun ive had from a camera yet. Soon as canon makes an SLR with SD memory and rechargable AAs ill move over. I think im just one step away from it now.

Sounds like Pentax dSLR's :P

Hey Bower, you might indeed like the Pentax line. Anti-shake coming out on body too...

I seem to recall seeing that they had a MONSTROUS telephoto lens that was silver too... You could refinance your car (and maybe your house too) and get one and blow all of our minds... :)

Again. :)

the s3 is working out really well for me so far. i work in the bush, along the BC/Alaska border, so i need a camera that i can pack with while im in the field but will still produce decent landscape/wildlife shots. the S3 fits (barely) in the pocket of my cruiser vest, and for me was the best choice.

as for low light...im not overly impressed with the indoor shots ive taken with it, but that doesnt really matter to me. i rarely take pictures indoors anyway.

overall, its perfect for what i use it for, but it is really big for a point and shoot. i think its as good of a compromise of size, quality, and versatility as you can get...which is why i bought one.
