I'm also in both photojournalism and the free study. I've been gone all day, sorry but that's why I didn't respond earlier. |

Some outtakes just for fun. From the parade, for photojournalism:
And the shot I had to go reshoot for the Free Study - this one was taken the week before the challenge.

Hi people,
Well, I guess I'm going to be the first one to pull out of this little group. I don't think I can adequately fulfill the obligation to enter a challenge a week, partly due to time and work constraints, mostly due to the fact that I really don't want to force myself to enter a challenge if my heart's not in it. I'm also a Critique Club member, and I've definitely noticed that my critiques have sort of disappeared there since I started here. My apologies for pulling out so soon, and I do thank all of you for the comments on my "Negative" entry.
I wanted to give you your full nine comments, so I just finished commenting on all your entries this week. You can now offer my space to anyone else who wants it.
Thanks for the opportunity! Cheers, and good luck.

Hey Louis -
I am sorry to see you go but I can understand time restraints and trying to keep up with certain standards on your shots. I appreciate the comments you have left for me and odds are I will continue to comment on yours for at least a while. Good luck on future challenges and dont become a stranger. |

Thanks for your participation, Louis, and best of luck with the time and work issue.
Group - do we want to replace Louis or just leave it at 9 for now? Your call. |

I'm flexible. 9 is fine by me. Maybe we should not actively recruit but wait for someone else to show a strong interest and then invite them in. Either is fine by me. |

I'm flexible as well. |

I'm not that flexible... can't even bite my own toes ;)
but let's just wait for someone to show real interest in joining, it's better than to invite someone that might not be dedicated enough :)

9's fine by me,
Sorry to see you go Louis - your input was much appreciated. I'll try and drop by your portfolio every so often and leave a few comments on anything new.

And a big "Congrats" to our Trading Post ribbon winner - way to go, Tim!
AND a top ten by Eric!! Geesh, haven't even made it past the first page and already two to critique! Great job, gentlemen!

All right, we'll stay at 9 for now until someone expresses a serious desire to get on board with us.
Congrats to those ribbon winners / high finishers in the group! I've not gotten through this weeks shots yet, but you all appear to have done some really great photography.
I do apologize for the group that I don't currently have an entry submitted, so you'll have one less to critique NEXT week, but virtually all the photography I have done in the past week was "for pay" and thus not eligible for this contest, and I didn't manage to come up with anything good to enter. So, I'm breaking my own rule; but I'll just plead for mercy this time :)
I will get crits on everyone's shots, though.
Thanks to all for your participation. I think this is working wonderfully, and I feel we're building some close friendships as well. Don't let that take the honesty out of the comments, though, but I'm really glad to see everyone commenting honestly AND politely. Very well done. |

Besides being fun (giving and receiving comments) I have a notion that this thread is contributing to our own development as photographers. Maybe because of the comments we receive, maybe because of what we see and comment on in others photos, and maybe just because the act of contributing to this kind of thread causes us to focus (no pun intended) on what we are doing when we create photographs.
There are at least a couple of ways to measure progress (and probably more). One obvious way is whether we are scoring higher relative to other people in the challenges. (Our two illustrious "top ten" contributors are evidence of this for them.)
Another way is to compete against ourselves by having our own latest photos replace others that have been in our own "Highest Rated Photographs" that appear on our respective "My Profile" pages. I did a quick check and found that 8 of the 10 of us have one or more new photos that have made it into our respective "Highest Rated Photographs" since joining this thread (and the two that didn't already have very high scoring photos in theirs, presumably making it difficult to replace them).
So maybe there is something tangible to go along with the general good fun of being a member of this Critique Trading Post. (Just a thought I would pass along.)

I think I've caught up on everyone ready for rollover - let me know if I've missed you, I worked in a funny order this time and got lost.
Thanks again for comments, people :D

You got me, Kirsty.
I have one in DPC Cinema, currently sitting on a dead-average 5.5. I also have one in Holy Places. I'm not submitting anything for the member challenge tonight.
Who else has what when? |

I don't have one in the member challenge, but got a Night Shot I'm currently regretting.
Won't have one in the member again, but hoping to do a Still Life before Tues

Heh - I have one for Lens Cap if I get brave enough to submit it. I'll be hoping for humor points if I do. I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that either - I suspect quite a few will be humorous. |

I have one in for DPC Cinema that ends tonight. I'm not in either open challenge that ends Tuesday this week. I also put one in Enviromental Portrait and Still Life for next week. |
